
Congratulations to all of our South West Region winners...
The awards were staged at the Lord Bute hotel, in Highcliffe, Dorset, with entertainment provided by talented youngsters from Christchurch-based BIGLITTLE Theatre Company.
At the start of the awards, tributes were paid to two much-loved members of staff, retired Operations Manager South Terry Bailey who recently passed away at Highcliffe Nursing Home, a service he once managed, and Senior Support Worker Denise Cracknell who sadly lost her brave battle with cancer last year after serving Highcliffe Nursing Home for 13 years.

Care Home Manager of the Year
Rebecca Hebditch - Home Manager, Branksome Heights Care Home
Judges' Remarks:
Rebecca is described by one of her staff at Branksome Heights as “simply amazing”, “the best care home manager I have ever met”. Polite and gentle with everyone, including residents, families and staff, she maintains a positive attitude to the most challenging of situations.

Registered Nurse of the Year
Kitabu Balajo - Nurse, Highcliffe Care Home
Judges' Remarks:
Kit is admired by colleagues at Highcliffe for his nursing skill and great bedside manner. He is very kind and shows great empathy, especially towards residents on end-of-life care. One nominee remarked that he is a true gentleman and a team player who can always be relied on.

Support Worker of the Year
Dince Joseph - Support Worker, Branksome Heights Care Home
Judges' Remarks:
Dince’s colleagues at Branksome Heights say he is a great person to work with and he shows dedication in everything he does. Clearly devoted to his job, he demonstrates a lovely manner with residents and shows dedication in everything he does.

Activities Coordinator of the Year
Claire Sheppard - Lifestyle Coordinator, The Queen Charlotte Care Home
Judges' Remarks:
Claire has a genuine passion for keeping her residents happy and goes above and beyond to arrange interesting and varied activities tailored to their interests. Colleagues at Queen Charlotte say she lights up the home with her bubbly personality and enthusiasm and has made great strides in improving activities provision.

Care Home Business Support Champion
Emma Hendy - Home Administrator, Highcliffe Care Home
Judges' Remarks:
Handling her administrative duties with consummate skill and professionalism Emma brings so much more to Highcliffe Nursing Home. Always there to support staff, residents and their families, she is a confident communicator who represents the home superbly.

Care Home Support Services Champion
Siri Bristow - Housekeeper, Branksome Heights Care Home
Judges' Remarks:
Siri is the housekeeper at Branksome Heights and thanks to her and her team the home is always immaculately clean and tidy. Colleagues say she is never anything but friendly and professional and always greets visitors with a big smile.

Chef of the Year
Dhanush Bhima - Cook, Branksome Heights Care Home
Judges' Remarks:
Colleagues at Branksome Heights say Danny’s skills in the kitchen grow week on week. He produces delicious food and pays extra attention to detail on presentation. His birthday cakes are stunning! All this achieved with a huge smile for everyone in the kitchen.

Rising Star
Joanne Jarvis - Deputy Manager, Highcliffe Care Home
Judges' Remarks:
Joanne has only recently joined Highcliffe as deputy manager but has already made a big difference. Very supportive to all staff, she wants only the best care for the residents. Colleagues say she has great communication skills, is very kind and shows great empathy
