Our response to the CQC report

While we are pleased that the Care Quality Commission (CQC) recognises our service as Good in the domains of Caring, Effective, and Responsive, we are disappointed by the overall rating of Requires Improvement in the domains of Safe and Well-led. This assessment, in our view, is based on the subjective interpretation of the inspectors, who focused on minor technicalities rather than considering the wider context and huge progress we have achieved as team.

We are content in the knowledge that our biggest advocates are our residents and their families and friends. Their high regard for Downham Grange is highlighted in the recent heart-warming five-star reviews that have been posted on the leading review site carehome.co.uk.

The daughter of one our residents speaks volumes when she writes: “As a family we agree Downham Grange is the best place for our mum. All the staff show her nothing but care, kindness, and understanding.”
