A bus trip through time for Care home residents
Where else can you start a journey exploring artifacts from 4000 years ago but then end up dressing up a character from 1977 in Star Wars?
That was a day in the life for residents from Downham Grange Nursing Home who thought Kings Lynn sounded like a nice place to visit with the Lynn Museum a good place to drop into.
Karen Kirby originally from Heacham was absolutely “thrilled”; to find they had a Star Wars Exhibition on - ‘May the Toys be with You’ with all of her favourite characters on display including a life-sized Storm Trooper from the iconic movies.
The exhibitions which range from the Bronze Age Sea Henge, a Victorian Fairground to African artifacts including a reproduction 1950’s shop. Margaret Elsom now aged 94 remembered fondly the “brrrr”, of the old telephones whilst recognising some of the items on display which she could remember in her grandmother’s pantry.
A fascinating place of History followed by dose of Sunshine watching the world go by.
Kelly Bermingham Manager at Downham Grange was thrilled to see the smiles upon their faces as they returned wishing that she had been able to go along “ it’s wonderful to see our residents’ enjoying things that they would have done in their previous lives”, she said “enjoying life as they should be”
