BBC sports presenter Gabby Logan is star guest at Kingsley's 25th anniversary awards
Kingsley Healthcare staff were joined by business partners for a glitzy 25th anniversary celebration and awards ceremony at Milsom Kesgrave Hall, near Ipswich, Suffolk, on Wednesday 25th September.
The event, staged in the county where Kingsley was launched in 1999 through the acquisition of its first care home in Lowestoft, was hosted by BBC sports presenter Gabby Logan and ITV Anglia news anchor David Whiteley.
In his awards speech, Kingsley co-founder and CEO Daya Thayan said when he and his wife Sumi started Kingsley, they could never have imagined it would grow into the “caring and thriving organisation it is today”.
He said: “We all share the same goal, to provide the best care for our residents and support our staff. Our values guide us every day and have helped us build strong ties with the communities we serve.
“Your dedication is second to none. If there was an award for ‘Most Unshakeable Team’, you’d all be up there, no question!”
The flagship Care Home of the Year award went to Four Oaks in Manchester
Judges describing the home, purpose-built in 2016, as having “an outstanding reputation in the local community with its glowing CQC report, excellent reviews and harmonious well-trained team”
The Care Home Manager of the Year award was won by Zena Stotter, who manages Kingsley’s first care home, Lilac Lodge in Oulton Broad, Lowestoft.
Judges said: “Zena’s standards for her residents are set exceptionally high and she never wavers from them. She is always supportive, has excellent communication skills and provides a security that her team and residents thrive on.”
Support Worker of the Year was Sam Coote, who works at Decoy Farm, a learning disability service near Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. Judges described him as “friendly, caring and compassionate and always available to support residents and staff in any way he can”.
Elizabeth Jose, who works at Sharston House Nursing Home, in Knutsford, Cheshire, won the Registered Nurse of the Year award, judges saying she was “knowledgeable, caring and hard-working and always very polite and understanding”.
Outstanding Contribution Awards were presented to Co-Chief Operating Officer Debbie McGovern, Chief Financial Officer Ian Jarvis, Chief Investment Officer Muj Malik and Chief Digital and Innovation Officer Wasantha Darshana.
