Blue Monday Blueberry Muffins

This week we decided to embrace the blue of blue Monday and make it a little sweeter!

In a 1 to 1 activity one of our residents Violet helped us to prepare the mix, after washing our hands Violet stirred through a blue food colouring and added blueberries, we then really had to focus as we lined the muffin tins with cases, we were very careful to make sure we didn't have more than one in each as they stick together and then we spooned the mixture into the trays and delivered them back to the kitchen to be baked.

In the afternoon once the muffins were baked and cooled, Violet came back and brought her friends as well as a few of their family members, they were armed and ready to decorate the muffins, we took turns to use the piping bag supported with a little extra muscle by Activity Coordinator Lauren and we opted for a classic swirl on top using blue frosting. The ladies staked their claims on their favourite looking ones by piping their initials onto them.

We finished by topping the muffins with some chocolate stars and popping them on the trolley ready to be served at dinner - things may have got a little silly at times as the frosting ended up on noses and we decided to see if we could lick it off which brought lot's of laughter and someone wanted to lick the spoon just like she used to when she was a young girl.
