Branksome Heights Care Home gets set for charity musical marathon

Mamma Mia! Branksome Heights Care Home is getting ready to bring the West End to #Bournemouth for a 12-hour charity musical marathon.

Staff and residents at the Kingsley Healthcare home, in Branksome Wood Road, were inspired by a recent trip to The Bournemouth Pavilion to see Jamie Lee Dance Academy’s popular annual show.

Rehearsals have been under way all week ahead of the marathon which will begin at 10am on Saturday <20th May>.

Local people are invited to drop in during the day to listen to the music and make a donation to the local charity Sophie’s Legacy which supports hospitals across the South to improve the experience and facilities for families with seriously ill children.

Home manager Rebecca Hebditch said: “We have adopted Sophie’s Legacy as our charity for the year. Our lifestyle coordinator Paige Parker has made cupcakes that we will be selling in aid of the charity and we will also have a chocolate raffle and a bottle tombola. We hope people will pop in to support our efforts.”

Students from Jamie Lee Dance Academy, including Mrs Hebditch’s 16-year-old daughter Grace, will launch the event with an hour-long performance in the home, covering songs from a range of musicals.

Mrs Hebditch said: “We will have musical-themed activities going on throughout the day. There will be an Oliver-themed lunch with staff dressing up in musical themed costumes, musical bingo and staff karaoke.”
