Caister Lifeboat talk delights Eversley Lodge residents and families
It’s a story of selfless bravery that began in 1791.
Since that time, successive crews of Caister Lifeboat have saved 392 lives – and are still saving lives today as Britain’s first independent lifeboat.
The miraculous rescues, the tragedies and the amazing characters were all recalled in a talk by assistant coxswain Richard Thurlow at Eversley Lodge Nursing Home, in North Denes Road, Great Yarmouth.
The residents enjoyed hearing all about the history of the local Lifeboat, sharing their memories and being able to ask lots of questions!
This was then followed by a delicious afternoon tea prepared by our wonderful chefs, Danny and Scott!
Thank you so much to those that came along and of course to Richard! It was lovely to welcome you all into our home.
We managed to collect donations too which is great! The monies raised were swelled by our Christmas raffle.
