Care homes operator Kingsley Healthcare has appointed a new development director to oversee its expansion in the south
Terry Bailey returns to the Suffolk based company following a previous successful spell managing Kingsley’s home in Highcliffe, Dorset, and a stint as operations manager for Highcliffe and its sister Dorset home, Queen Charlotte, in Weymouth. Mr Bailey, a qualified nurse who started work in the NHS before progressing his career in the private sector, said: “Part of my brief is to look at the acquisition of new homes right across the south from Hampshire down to Devon.
“There are certainly some good opportunities and I think it’s likely we will have at least doubled our portfolio of properties in the south to four within two years. “That will involve doubling our staff in the south which presently stands at around 120.” Mr Bailey is also overseeing improvement work at Kingsley’s two present homes in Dorset aimed at enhancing the living experience of residents. The company is set to start work in the summer on a 16-bedroom extension at Highcliffe at the cost of more than £1m.
The project will also add an extra lift and create more living space. Refurbishment work planned at Queen Charlotte includes the creation of a new reception area. Mr Bailey said: “I am delighted to have returned and am looking forward to being part of the growth of Kingsley Health Care and specifically engaging with the local community in establishing excellent care homes in order to meet the ever growing needs.” He said he would be pleased to speak to anyone who had any questions about care or to improve understanding of the diverse experiences of living within a care home.
