A collection for Storehouse Foodbank at Sudbury’s Catchpole Court Care Home beat all expectations thanks to the generosity of staff, residents, families, and visitors.

Head of activities Ruth Head said: “We decided to spread a little Christmas cheer to local families in need, and we collected enough to fill three hampers – and there were still more food items we could not fit in!”

She said their appeal had been so successful they were planning to continue collections, by placing a donation box in reception, on a bi-monthly basis.

“Next time we will be holding a collection of dog and cat food for pet owners struggling with the cost of living,” she said.

Home manager Dawn Waqalevu, left, is pictured handing over the hampers with deputy manager Matthew Cullen and head of activities Ruth Head.
