Chinese New Year

We had a wonderful time celebrating Lunar New Year both within our group and at the wider public celebrations held at the Trafford Centre.

We joined the vibrant Lunar New Year event featuring performances by Manchester Chinese Centre. The atmosphere was lively from the moment we arrived, with colourful dragon dances, flowing ribbon performances, and creative cultural activities across the centre.

It was especially exciting to take part in the celebration ourselves, including helping to hold the dragon during one of the performances, which made the experience feel very personal and memorable. We also enjoyed lucky cookies, and one of our group members, Alan, received a half gold fortune coin, adding a fun touch of New Year luck to the day.

Also as a part of the celebrations, we were delighted to welcome special visitors in our care home from the Chinese Catholics Faith Sharing Group. It was a warm and friendly afternoon filled with cultural exchange, meaningful conversations, and fun calligraphy activities. Everyone enjoyed learning more about Chinese traditions, sharing stories, and experiencing the spirit of the New Year together.
