Colne House Care Home Redevelopment Project Receives Unanimous Approval
The transformation of Colne House Care Home, in Earls Colne, Essex, into a state-of-the-art, purpose-built facility while preserving its historic charm is set to take place in an exciting redevelopment project.
The boutique luxury scheme, which garnered unanimous approval from the Braintree District Council on 18th April, has been commended by local councillors for its innovative design and meticulous planning. The surrounding community, including the neighbouring golf club, has also expressed their support.
The redevelopment plans, which will involve an investment of more than £10m, encompass the renovation of the existing Grade 2 listed building, thanks to the inclusion of a Listed Building Consent. Additionally, a new building will be constructed on the adjoining grounds, linked by a captivating semi-submerged connection. This strategic layout will provide breath-taking views of the golf course and enhance the overall environment of the care home.
The new building will feature luxury suites equipped with purpose-built wetrooms, offering residents enhanced comfort and convenience. Ample dining and lounge spaces, as well as a welcome cafe and an engaging experience room, will also be included in the facility. The experience room is designed to stimulate residents' minds with various activities, such as movies, games, and puzzles.
To accommodate an increased number of residents, the redevelopment plans include the construction of a new purpose-built kitchen and laundry facilities, alongside welfare amenities for the staff. The first floor will boast terraces where residents can bask in the sunshine and enjoy the fresh air. The care home will also house a new hair salon.
The scheme will enable more residents to receive exceptional care in a luxurious, modern setting. The project aims to foster a homely environment that addresses the physical, emotional, and social needs of the residents.
Expressing his satisfaction with the planning approval, Muj Malik, Kingsley's Group Chief Investment Officer, remarked, "Colne House is already a beloved home with an excellent reputation. We take great pride in delivering the highest quality care facilities for the local community.
"Home Manager Victoria Franklin expressed her pride in the care home's strong ties to the community and its well-earned reputation. She stated, "These outstanding new facilities will enable us to meet the high demand for beds in our local area."
Rob Patkai, Group Design Director, added, "I am delighted that the council and local community have embraced our innovative design, which places resident wellbeing at the forefront."
