Creating Christingles and Cherished Memories
Christingles are made around Christmas time from an orange decorated with red ribbon, sweets or dried fruit and a candle. Each of these different elements has a special meaning:
-The orange symbolises the world.
-The red ribbon represents the equator and the we are all connected around the world.
-The sweets/dried fruit represents the earths nature and produce.
-The four cocktail sticks can represent either the four seasons or the four corners of the world.
-The candle represents the light of the world, bringing hope to those in darkness.
We had lots of fun sharing stories of making Christingles in church and remembering making them with with the children. They were a little fiddly but with team work and patience we think we have done a god job!
