Families and friends of past residents at Downham Grange, in Clackclose Road, Downham Market
Families and friends of past residents at Downham Grange, in Clackclose Road, Downham Market, are invited to the nursing home’s inaugural memorial day on Saturday, July 20, from 2.30pm. A simple ceremony will be led by lay preacher Steven Reid, a regular visitor to the Kingsley Healthcare run home from the town’s Evangelical church.
Following a few words of reflection from Mr. Reid, visitors will be invited to write personal messages to their loved ones on tags which have Forget-me-Not flower seeds embedded in them. They will then be able to plant them in a flower bed in the home’s new memorial garden; rose bushes will also be planted and a memorial plaque will be unveiled.
Following the ceremony, visitors will be invited to join staff and residents for a light buffet with music provided by Mr. Reid. Tracy Nicholls, the home’s activities coordinator, said: “All the staff at Downham Grange thought a memorial day would be a lovely idea to keep alive the memory of our past residents. “And we are looking forward to meeting up with their families and friends again on this special day.
“We are sending personal invites out but also want to reach out further to anyone with a connection to our home who would like to attend.”
