Five Kingsley homes celebrate prestigious end-of-life care awards

Staff from five Kingsley Healthcare homes proudly received prestigious end-of-life care awards at a ceremony in Birmingham.

Deputy Manager Demi Codling and Activities Coordinator Sam Gore from Eversley Lodge Care Home, in Great Yarmouth were presented with the Gold Standards Framework’s (GSF) top Platinum Award.

Meanwhile, Thorp House Care Home, in Norfolk and three Dorset care homes - Highcliffe, Queen Charlotte and Branksome Heights – received Quality Hallmark Awards to mark their GSF accreditation.

The awards were presented at GSF’s annual conference, attended by hundreds of social care professionals, and featuring prominent speakers discussing a range of care topics.

Eversley Lodge had achieved a 100 per cent score in its assessment and inspection and been nominated for GSF's Care Home of the Year award.
Miss Codling said: “To have achieved Platinum is something we are incredibly proud of, and it is a wonderful recognition of the dedication, compassion and commitment that goes into providing outstanding end-of-life care for our residents.

“We were incredibly honoured to be nominated for the GSF Care Home of the Year Award alongside nine other fantastic care homes. Although we sadly didn’t take home the award, simply being nominated is an achievement we are hugely proud of.”

Admiral Nurse Noela Chituh, who represented Highcliffe Nursing Home at the awards and supported all the Dorset homes during their work towards accreditation, said: “We felt elated and proud to receive the award which is testament to the hard work and passion of every member of staff.”

Helen Roy, Deputy Manager at Branksome Heights, in Bournemouth, said their GSF journey had started 18 months ago.
“Gold Standards Framework is learning how to give someone not only a good life but also a good death by trying to achieve all wishes and preferences when approaching end of life. It’s also about giving wrap-around care for the family before and after their loved one has passed away,” she said.

“It was lovely to be able to go to the awards to see all the great work that GSF has done and how other homes have embedded this into their home. Being able to celebrate this achievement with four other Kingsley homes was lovely.”

Claire Brooks, Home Manager at Thorp House, said: “This recognition celebrates our commitment to providing person-centred care at every stage of life and reinforces the importance of ensuring that every resident receives the comfort, support, and understanding they deserve.

“Having the opportunity to share our experiences and reflect on best practice throughout our GSF journey has been both inspiring and rewarding. Thanks to the collective hard work, dedication, and compassion of our teams, we can now proudly display this recognition within our home as a testament to the outstanding care, support, and kindness provided every day to our residents and their families.”
