Four Oaks Care Home staff support animal rescue centre

Staff at Four Oaks Care Home, in Wood Lane, Partington, have responded to the SOS of an animal rescue centre.

Chloe Williams and Iwona Pawelczyk, activities coordinators at the Kingsley Healthcare home, presented £120 and a supply of small animal food, treats, cleaning supplies and blankets to Changing Lives @ Carrington, in Isherwood Road, Manchester.

Miss Williams said: “We heard about the centre’s urgent need for support and wanted to help.

“We raised money through a hamper raffle and a donation box and we are really grateful to all the staff, residents’ families and visitors who supported our appeal.”

Centre founder Nicole Cooper said she was touched by everyone’s generosity.

She said: “We set up our centre to help as many animals as possible that need loving homes. Since September 2020, we have received over 200 cats, rabbits and guinea pigs that are in desperate need of help.

“Most of these animals have been rescued from people who are unable to look after their beloved pets due to loss of income, illness or death caused by the pandemic. We have not refused a single animal despite poor health, ailments and in some cases, injuries.”

She said they were lucky to have very dedicated volunteers but still needed funds to feed and maintain the animals and meet the cost of veterinary treatment ahead of re-homing.
