Redwalls Nursing Home celebrates International Nurses Day
Every year on May 12th, we celebrate International Nurses Day, a chance to recognise the incredible contributions that nurses make to healthcare around the world.
Lauren Mackie, Care Home Manager at Redwalls Nursing Home in Sandiway, near Northwich, part of the Kingsley Healthcare group of homes really appreciates her nursing team and the support she gets from nurses in the community.
This year she wanted to say a special thank you to them all, in recognition of their commitment and unwavering dedication, expertise and compassion they show towards the residents in the home. So, she organised a special afternoon as a ‘Thank you’. There was a lovely buffet and home-made cup-cakes as well as entertainment.
The home was delighted that the Tissue Viability Nurses from the community and the nurse and the care home co-ordinator from Danebridge Medical Centre were able to attend as well as all the nurses who work at Redwalls Nursing Home and Julie Delaney who is an independent nurse who supports and trains the team at the home as part of the end of life partnership.
During the afternoon there was even a special presentation for two of the residents had been nurses during their career, Stan Ramsden who had trained as a nurse while in the army and Barbara Ashcroft who had trained as a nurse and later became a midwife.
Lauren Mackie, Manager at Redwalls Nursing Home said “International Nurses Day provides a great opportunity to formally thank our nurses for all that they do throughout the year to care for the wonderful residents at Redwalls Nursing Home.” She continued. “We also get excellent support from the nurses in the community and I was delighted that so many could attend so that I could thank them personally for their support.”
