King's Court Care Home steps back in time with community garden party

King’s Court Care Home in Hempstead Road, Holt, will be stepping back in time on Saturday <20th September> to join in the celebrations of Sheringham’s 1940s Weekend.

The home is hosting a Community Garden Party from 11am to 4pm intended to transport visitors back to the wartime years.

Jazz trio Tiaura and The Vibettes, a retro vocal duo, will entertain throughout the day with music from the era and there will be an afternoon tea with period-style treats including Victoria sponge, scones, ration-inspired biscuits and – if anyone is brave enough – spam sandwiches.

Other highlights will include a period-style photo booth and a memory-lane exhibition compiled by residents and their families.

Activities coordinator Louise Snow said: “Our event is free and we would like as many people as possible to come and join in the fun. Staff will be dressing up in 1940s style and we will be decorating the home with lots of red, white and blue.”
