Kingsley begins work on ultra-luxury boutique care home in the centre of Bedford
We are delighted to announce that construction work is under way on our latest next-generation care home development in a prime location in Bedford close to schools, hospitals and popular amenities.
Sycamore Heights Nursing Home, in Shakespeare Road, has been designed by award-winning architects Condy Lofthouse (CLA) to deliver the quality of a boutique, luxury hotel.
When it opens in autumn 2023, the home will combine beautifully appointed rooms with elegant and spacious living areas.
The design provides for a stylish café, a beauty salon and an exquisite roof terrace with a glass balustrade; enhancing the look will be an elegant glass corridor overlooking landscaped gardens.
Kingsley Healthcare’s Chief Investment Officer Muj Malik said: “We have worked closely with local councillors, planners and the local community to deliver a scheme that will define luxury care in Bedford while creating 100 local jobs.”
Sumi Thayan, Kingsley co-founder and managing director, said: “We are delighted that this new luxury facility will bring the Kingsley operation back into Bedford where we have served families since 2008.
“This scheme is part of our Kingsley Vision 2025. We have a number of other projects, both at the construction and planning stage, working with our established partners.”
Luke Braithwaite, MD of construction firm Braithwaite Group, said: “Our business model is to focus our work on clients with whom we have a long-standing relationship. We have found the perfect partner in Kingsley and are delighted to be able work together on the delivery of luxury care developments across the UK.”
Rob Patkai, Chief Designer Kingsley Healthcare Group and ex-partner in Condy Lofthouse Architects (CLA), said: “This has been in the making for a long time and I am glad to have delivered a site that provides such an excellent facility for the community.”
Peter Williamson, Associate Director of CLA, said: “We are excited to be working with Kingsley on a number of projects delivering excellence in social care.”
Nick Elliott, a partner in Elliott Associates, the project managers, said: “We are delighted to continue partnering Kingsley on this and a number of other schemes.”
Construction will start in Autumn 2022 on 66 bed next-generation nursing homes in Holt, Norfolk, and Olney, Buckinghamshire. In the past 24 months, Kingsley has built and commissioned four care homes, adding 275 beds.
