Kingsley CEO Daya Thayan wins top industry accolade
Kingsley Healthcare Chief Executive Daya Thayan won the top award at the prestigious HealthInvestor Power Fifty event in London. As the climax to a glitzy awards night, celebrating the UK health and social care sector’s most effective and influential leaders, he was announced as the winner of the Readers’ Award.
The award, presented by event host and comedian Dom Joly, is decided by votes from fellow nominees in the Power Fifty, along with nominations by readers of the HealthInvestor publication and the wider public. Mr Thayan, who has grown Kingsley into a carehome.co.uk nominated national top 20 large care group, said: “I am delighted to have won the top award at the HealthInvestor Power Fifty.
“This is testament to the hard work of all our wonderful staff. I dedicate this award to all of them."
“We have worked hard to become a leading care provider but Kingsley will always remain a family business. Our best is certainly ahead.”
Mr Thayan, who has been nominated in the Power Fifty for the past eight years, was rated by the top review site Glassdoor as one of the top 10 CEOs in the UK in respect of his leadership and support for staff during the Covid pandemic. His Power Fifty success reflects that leadership that has seen Kingsley become a Real Living Wage employer and establish a charity, the Kingsley Foundation, to support staff in need. It also reflects Kingsley’s ambitious growth plans, the Kingsley Vision 2025, which has seen construction work start this year on luxury care homes in Bedford, Buckinghamshire, Dorset and Norfolk. In the past year, Kingsley has also opened next generation care homes in Liverpool, Norfolk and Birmingham.
During the awards, hosted at the Business Design Centre, in Islington, attendees were invited to congratulate winners by posting on a Twitter wall. Comments on Mr Thayan described him as a “values-driven care operator” and said “Daya’s work is driven by passion”. He was complimented as “an inspirational leader” and “trustworthy, understanding and confident, someone who recognises the accomplishments of his employees”.
