Kingsley Healthcare to pay all employees the Real Living Wage at a minimum
We are delighted to announce that, from this month, all our staff are to be paid at or above the rate set by the Real Living Wage Foundation.
This means that the hourly rate for our staff will start from £9.90.
The Real Living Wage is independently calculated each year, based on what employees and their families need to live. That is why it is higher than the minimum wage.
Employers voluntarily choose to pay it, changing people’s lives right now.
Kingsley CEO Daya Thayan said: “Kingsley is a family business. We are so delighted to be able to help and support our 2,000 staff. They have been absolutely marvellous.
“The cost of living crisis is making it very tough for all families and we wanted to do as much as we can to lend our support.”
Operations director Debbie McGovern said: “The tremendous work undertaken in care homes during the pandemic has demonstrated, more than ever, that the care sector should be regarded as a skilled profession with staff being rewarded commensurately. These pay rises are a positive step in that direction.”
Head of People Lisa Lock said: “Our care home staff showed themselves to be true Kingsley heroes during the lockdowns, taking on the role of family to residents at a time when there could be no visits.
“The pandemic opened the eyes of the public to the incredible job care home workers do, and they thoroughly deserve this pay rise for their hard work and dedication which we so much appreciate. We are proud of them all.”
