Kingsley supports Lauren on her World Scout Jamboree quest
Lauren Potter, 12, will be following in her brother’s footsteps and representing the 14th Lowestoft Scout Group at the World Scout Jamboree.
To set her off on her fundraising journey to raise £3,400 for the dream trip to Gdansk, Poland, in the summer of 2027, she received a £300 donation from Kingsley Healthcare, a national care provider based in Lowestoft.
Presenting a cheque to Lauren at her school, Benjamin Britten Academy of Music and Mathematics, in Lowestoft, Kingsley spokesman Stephen Pullinger, said: “Kingsley is a family-owned company and even though we are now a national top 20 ranked care homes group we retain our family values.
“Kingsley’s charitable foundations, operating under the banner of Kingsley Philanthropy, support children, families and communities in many other countries as well as the UK. However, Lowestoft has a special place in our hearts as it is where the company started 27 years ago. “
Lauren, whose father Mark is a Scout leader, will be joined on the trip by two other Scouts from the same group and they have all begun working on fundraising initiatives, including a fully booked quiz, fish and chip night at the Scout den later this month, hamper raffles and a bingo night.
A range of businesses have donated raffle prizes, including Tesco, Asda, High Lodge Leisure, Pleasure Beach, Marina Centre and Three Rivers Veterinary group, Beccles.
Lauren, whose brother George attended the event in Korea in 2023, said: “I am super excited to have been selected to represent Suffolk Scouts.
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity where Scouts from all around the world come together to share adventures, make friends and learn about different cultures.
“I’ll get to take part in amazing activities, explore new places and bring home skills and stories to share with my local community and younger Scouts.”
