Kingsley welcomes the easing of care home Covid restrictions

covid rules easing 2022

Group Operations Director Debbie McGovern said she was delighted by the Government announcement that restrictions are to be eased from Monday, January 31.

From that date, care home visitors will be able to receive unlimited visitors while self-isolation periods will be cut from 14 days to 10 for those who do test positive for the virus.

Care homes will have to follow outbreak management rules for 14 rather than 28 days.

Ms McGovern said: “We know how much visits mean to our residents and their families. Having laughter and chatter in our homes brings them to life.

“The statutory limit on the number of visitors to three and an essential care giver has been very hard for residents and their families.

“Neary all residents have been fully vaccinated and we are delighted to be returning to much more normal visiting.”

As a note of caution, she said care providers had yet to be given the full details of the changes and asked for patience from families until everything was clarified.
