Latest Covid Measures

covid 19 update omricon kingsley healthcare

We hope you are all staying well during these difficult times.

You will have seen the most recent announcements concerning the Omicron variant and its quickly-developing impact on our communities.  There is clearly a basis for some concern, but Kingsley is not moving to close its homes to visitors at this time, nor are we reverting to the strict visiting policies we had to introduce at the height of the outbreaks of the virus.  We fully appreciate that visiting is an integral part of the service we provide and we recognise its importance in maintaining the health, wellbeing and quality of life of those under our care.

We are, however, introducing with immediate effect practical measures that accord with the Government’s guidelines to keep our residents and staff as safe as possible under the circumstances.  As of today, we would ask that you make arrangements with your home to nominate three (3) family members or friends that will be named as your regular visitors.  You may also nominate an identified essential care giver who may visit the home to offer companionship or assist with the provision of care.

These individuals should all kindly make arrangements by booking appointments with the home directly in advance of any visit.  This will allow the home to manage the number of people visiting at any particular time.  They should also, once registered with the home, receive and report a negative lateral flow test result on the day of their visit, either by taking a test at their residence before they arrive or by taking a test when they get to the home itself.  Essential care givers will also be required to follow the same testing protocols (e.g. regular LFT/PCR testing) as the home staff and will need to wear full PPE when providing direct personal care.

In the meantime, we can confidently reassure you that all Kingsley homes maintain a robust approach to infection control and provide a clean and safe environment for your loved ones.  Our front-line colleagues, those that provide daily personal care to our residents, are all now double-vaccinated and are being encouraged to receive their booster at the earliest opportunity.  They also subject themselves to regular lateral flow testing in accordance with the guidelines issued by Public Health England.

Naturally, no nominated visitor to a Kingsley home should enter the facility if they themselves are feeling unwell or have been in close contact with a positive case.  We are sure, by now, you all recognise how dangerous transmissible respiratory viruses can be to care home residents.  By working together with you in a sensible and understanding manner, we believe we can continue to keep your loved ones safe and well during this special festive period.

You will recall that we have made available, throughout the course of the last year or so, video-conferencing facilities that provide for virtual visiting.  These all remain available to you as a regular alternative to in-person visits and we would encourage you to make use of them where possible.  Our IT department can provide any necessary guidance you might need to make this work for you.

We will update you over the course of the next week, as we approach Christmas itself, and we will work diligently to ensure you can continue to visit your loved ones in a warm and welcoming environment.  In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact your home manager directly if you have any queries or require any additional guidance.

We at Kingsley are determined to help you and your loved ones enjoy a peaceful and merry Christmas.

Best wishes and season’s greetings to you all.
