Lucy Knight, administrator at Yaxley House care home near Eye

Lucy Knight, administrator at Yaxley House care home near Eye, travelled to Hylands Park in Chelmsford on Sunday to take part in the Essex Memory Walk with her mother Carol Bumfrey. The pair, who raised £80 in sponsorship for the Alzheimer’s Society, were joined at the 2km event by hundreds of other walkers.

Lucy said: “My later grandfather Bill had vascular dementia but, through the walk, I also wanted to support all the residents at Yaxley who are living with dementia. “Dementia is such as big problem in our world and it’s really important we find a cure.” She said her mother, a retired district nurse, had also supported people living with dementia in her work.
