Meet siblings Harry and June!
Meet siblings Harry and June. They are 103 and 100 years old respectively. What an honour it is to be part of their lives
"June was working at Hollingtons in Coggeshall during the war, making uniforms for the armed forces. Her daughter remembers June telling her stories of the ladies in the factory secretly exchanging their addresses so they could become pen pals. Victory in Europe was celebrated with a street party in Coggeshall. Although her fiancé (who later became her husband) was still fighting the Japanese in Burma, that didn’t dampen her spirits – it was such a huge relief to everyone that there would be no more bombs dropped over the country by the Germans."
"Harry was in the air force as ground crew working on Lancaster bombers. He told his family that they used to wait for hours, watching the sky, if a crew were late back from a bombing mission in the hope that they were limping back but many never returned; so, we imagine every base in the country would have been celebrating."
