South West Norfolk MP Liz Truss cut a ribbon to open a revamped central courtyard garden at Downham Grange Care Home, in Clackclose Road, Downham Market.

The former prime minister greeted the Kingsley Healthcare home’s oldest resident, 98-year-old Hilda Morton, as well as chatting to other residents and staff during her visit on Friday <24th May>.

Jenny Barnes, Downham’s Business Administrator, said: “Ms Truss was given a tour of the home and was complimentary about what she saw.”

New features in the courtyard garden include a pergola, planters which have been designed to enable residents in wheelchairs to take part in gardening activities and colourful hanging baskets.

Ms Truss said: “The garden will provide a peaceful and enjoyable area for residents and their families to relax and spend time together.”
