Park Lane’s staff’s fundraiser for “magic” projector
Tickets for the curry and chips and bingo evening on Friday, November 9, will cost £12.50, including entry into a free prize draw. Staff at Park Lane care home, in Congleton, vowed to raise money for a OM Interactive projector after seeing its remarkable effect on residents during a demonstration at the home. The cost of the table top activity which allows residents to interact with projected images is about £6,500. Jayne O’Sullivan, manager at the Kingsley Healthcare run home in Park Lane, said: “It’s an activity suitable for all ages and all stages of dementia.
“Its possibilities are virtually endless. A resident can paint the screen with a paintbrush and a picture appears like magic; touch the projected image of a fish and the water ripples. “You can even upload photographs from a person’s past so they can interact with them.” She said the projector had been shown to improve the mood of people living with dementia and to boost their sense of self-worth. “When we had the demonstration, it was a big hit with all our residents. It was fantastic to see their faces light up with smiles,” she said.
To buy tickets for the event, which will start at 7.30pm and run until late, ring the home on 01260 290022 and ask for Jayne or Jo.
