Park View's tribute to nurses
Park View Care Home celebrates International Nurses Day.
International Nurses Day takes place on May 12, Florence Nightingale’s birthday, each year - offering a chance to shine a light on the hard work and dedication of nurses.
To mark the occasion this year, Ruth Baggs, the manager at Park View Care Home, which is a luxury care home which overlooks the historic Prince’s Park, wanted to pay her nursing team a special thanks as well as the nurses in the community who support the home, in recognition of their commitment and unwavering dedication, expertise and compassion they show towards the residents in the home. So, she organised a special afternoon as a ‘Thank you’.
The home welcomed Lisa Kelly, Community Matron and Edwards Evans, Community Nurse, both based at Picton Health Centre who were delighted to receive a special gift to celebrate the day as a special thanks from the home.
The home was delighted to celebrate the day with two residents Eileen and Therese who had been nurses in their younger days. Eileen enjoyed sharing memories of her days as a nurse and remembered her training at Broadgreen Hospital. Everyone had a wonderful afternoon enjoying a chat and a cream scone.
Ruth Baggs, Manager at Park View Care Home said “International Nurses Day provides a great opportunity to formally thank the nurses in the home for all that they do throughout the year.” She continued. “It is wonderful that we get such great support from the nurses in the community and it was lovely that we could celebrate the day with some of the nurses from Picton Health Centre.”
