Renowned chef to give cooking demonstration at Weymouth Manor Care Home

Renowned chef and food writer Mark Hix will be giving a cooking demonstration at Weymouth Manor Care Home, in Radipole Lane, Weymouth, from 2pm to 4pm on Friday, September 5.
The event is a celebration of Kingsley Healthcare’s acquisition of the 66-bedroom home last month and will give guests the opportunity to taste Hix’s food and look around the luxurious facilities.
Kingsley’s Regional Hospitality Manager, Simon Lewis, said: “Because it’s a Friday Mark will be cooking a fish dish, for which he is renowned.
“There will be limited spaces available. Anyone wanting to come along should email me at simon.lewis@kingsleyhealthcare.co.uk and we will do a draw to decide the lucky winners.
“For foodies, it will be an exciting opportunity to meet one of Britain’s most celebrated chefs and food writers, learn a few cooking tips and eat some delicious food.”
Hix was born and raised in West Bay, Dorset, before training as a chef at Weymouth College.
He went on to work at some of London’s top restaurants, including The Ivy and Le Caprice, before opening his own successful group of restaurants in London and Dorset.
Hix is an award-winning food writer with 12 cookbooks to his name, and writes the weekly recipe column for Telegraph Magazine. His unique Kitchen Table dining experiences take place twice a month at his Charmouth home and he also hosts foraging and fishing experiences in the Dorset area.
Simon, who also trained at Weymouth College, joined Kingsley in 2023 after cooking in the kitchens of some of Britain’s top hotels and restaurants.
He said his mission was to bring a five-star culinary experience to residents at Kingsley’s four Dorset care homes.
“What residents like are simple dishes cooked with flair. If it’s cottage pie it has to be the best cottage pie, if it’s fish and chips it has to be the best fish and chips,” he said.
