Spring Lodge care home residents enjoy river trip with their MP
Residents from Spring Lodge Care Home, in Woolverstone, near Ipswich, were joined by their local MP James Cartlidge for a scenic river trip.
Accompanied by Agi Seemungal, the home’s hospitality manager, they enjoyed an outing on the Wheelyboat operated by the The Woolverstone Project, a charity that enables people with disabilities to gain access to Suffolk’s stunning rivers.
Starting out from the Royal Harwich Yacht Club, their cruise took them along the River Orwell and under the Orwell Bridge.
Ms Seemungal said: “We are lucky to be in such a picturesque part of the county. We had a fabulous time spotting birds and learning about the history of the area. Our thanks go to The Woolverstone Project for operating such a worthwhile venture.”
Posting on Facebook, Mr Cartlidge said: “I was delighted to visit The Woolverstone Project, an incredible charity. I was proud to assist them in obtaining a National Lottery grant and today got to see with my own eyes the amazing experience they offer people. There are many therapeutic benefits to enjoying time on the water and I passionately believe that the opportunity to experience this should be available to everyone."
Operating out of Woolverstone Marina and Lodge Park and Alton Water, the charity is run by volunteers and operates specially adapted boats and facilities to cater for all.
