Sharston House manager Nishi puts focus on “healing” after the pandemic
After gaining experience as a nurse in hospitals both abroad and in the UK, Nishi Gottlieb discovered her true passion was working with the elderly.
She joined Sharston House as manager in 2016 and has steered the home to a good CQC rating.
Most of all, she is proud of building the team into what they are today, “dedicated team players with the residents’ health and best interests at the centre of everything they do”.
What attracted you to take the manager’s position at Sharston House?
“The home is a beautiful period property in the heart of Knutsford and with my interior decorator’s eye I saw the potential to make it even better.
“I also saw the great potential in my team to take the home to the next level.
“Knutsford is a great community and we are privileged to be part of it and to have built such strong relationships with local people.”
What are your plans for the home and its residents?
“The pandemic has been one of the toughest periods of my career and to run a nursing home well during that time was a challenge.
“I am proud of every single one of the team who tirelessly worked to not only get through it but continued to maintain a good level of care for residents.
“As we move out of the pandemic, I am excited to look forward to happier times once again and I plan to focus on healing by putting the emphasis on activities.
“By using the wonderful local links that we have in Knutsford I can ensure that residents and families can take part in and enjoy special times together.
“Loved ones have been sorely missed throughout this period and we have created a decked area to facilitate visits in a safe way.”
What is your vision for the future?
“I am determined to gain an outstanding rating from CQC. Our carehome.co.uk reviews from families, residents and other healthcare professionals have given us a strong 9.7 out of 10 score so I am confident I can achieve this.
“Kingsley has given me the opportunity to explore my potential and I have confidence in the fact that the company – from the CEO down – shares my passion which is to provide an excellent standard of care for every resident that we welcome to Sharston House.”
