Snooker legends entertain residents at King’s Court Care Home
Snooker legends Dennis Taylor and Ken Doherty brought sporting memories flooding back to residents at King’s Court Nursing Home in Hempstead Road, Holt.
The duo played exhibition frames, demonstrated trick shots, posed for photographs and kept everyone entertained with their anecdotes and Irish humour.
Joining residents and staff in the audience were winners of a North Norfolk News competition and invited guests from the town.
Residents Patricia and Terry, both 91, confessed to being avid snooker fans and recalled the magic moment Dennis Taylor won the World Championships in a black ball finish against Steve Davis 40 years ago.
Care home Manager Debbie Bush said: “It was a great success. Residents and their families had been looking forward to the exhibition for days. Everyone agreed Dennis and Ken were wonderful entertainers. ”
The VIP visitors were given a tour of King’s Court which opened last year and praised the luxurious facilities. “The home and the garden are simply amazing,” said Ken. “We have not done many exhibitions in a care home but we have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. A lot of the residents have followed snooker for decades.”
The players were invited to Norfolk to help promote Kingsley Healthcare’s latest flagship care homes, King’s Court and Eversley Lodge in Great Yarmouth.
They played an exhibition at Eversley Lodge on Tuesday, July 22.
