Staff and residents at Allonsfield House nursing home followed the example of Captain Sir Tom and stepped out to raise money for a worthy cause.

They took part in Alzheimer’s Society’s Memory Walk on Saturday by walking around the gardens of the Kingsley Healthcare home in Campsea Ashe, near Wickham Market.

Staff and residents’ families sponsored their effort, raising more than £250.

Home administrator Erika Clow said: “Fourteen residents and seven members of staff took part.

“Edith Hermoza, one of our activities coordinators, organized the walk after discussions with residents about how much they enjoyed walking and getting outside. They really feel the benefits to their health and wellbeing.”

She said Alzheimer’s Society was a charity close to everyone’s hearts at Allonsfield House because many of their residents were living with dementia.”
