Staff at Oaklands Care Home in Scole take to the catwalk in charity fundraiser

Staff at Oaklands Care Home will be swapping their uniforms for clothes provided by the Pink Trolley charity shop in Harleston for a charity fashion show.

The public is invited to the event at the Kingsley Healthcare care home, in Norwich Road, Scole, from 3pm on Wednesday, February 18.

All money raised at the fashion show will go towards the Blossom Charity, a local charity which supports people going through personal difficulties and challenges.

Oaklands activities coordinator Catherine Jones, pictured right with Jennifer Darlow, from Pink Trolley, said: “It was during one of our regular residents’ meetings that one of our ladies voiced their interest in clothes and fashion, so the team set to work organising a charity fashion show! The home strives to achieve person centred care and resident led activities, so we are excited to bring this idea to fruition for this resident.

Catherine, who studied fashion and textiles at A-Level and subsequently completed two creative degrees, said the idea came together after connecting with Jennifer Darlow from The Pink Trolley Charity Shop.

She said: “We put our heads together and started compiling outfits for the show. The wonderful staff at Oaklands are swapping their uniforms for the catwalk and will be strutting their stuff in the amazing clothes provided by the Pink Trolley!

“It’s exciting to employ fashion to showcase our staff and their vibrant and dynamic personalities. At the same time, we will be hosting an event for residents, families and the wider public to enjoy.”

Blossom Charity runs programmes and provides tailored coaching to help individuals live their best lives. The charity has helped over 1500 people since its launch in 2013. Schemes it has been running include working in partnership with a variety of cancer centres across the region to hold makeover days for individuals undergoing or recovering from cancer treatment.

Come down and enjoy the afternoon with the residents and local community. Enjoy a glass of fizz on arrival and canapes during the event. All clothes worn by models will be available to purchase on the day as well as a full separate rail of clothes to purchase. Tickets are £4 on the door, please ring the home on 01379 740646 to reserve your place!
