Welcome to Susan Childs who has joined Kingsley Healthcare in a new role of trainee operations manager.

Following a successful 20-year career in retail management, training at Waitrose and becoming a store manager in another national chain, she decided on a complete change of course.

“Three years ago, I became a carer and fell in love with it. Every day was different and so rewarding,” she said.

Susan, whose previous role was as a care coordinator at a Suffolk residential home, said she is really looking forward to the challenges of her new position which will see her support the teams at Kingsley’s homes across East Anglia.

She said: “I will be looking to use the skills I acquired in retail as a people focused manager, leading a team by laughter but understanding every home is a business that won’t be around for residents if it is not run properly.”

Susan, who lives in Thorpeness, Suffolk, said she would be driven by the truth that “every service user could be my mum or dad and maintaining the bar of standards is imperative”.
