A saint is a person who is recognized as having an exceptional degree of holiness, likeness or closeness to God.
Saint George is the patron Saint of England. To celebrate, we hosted Nappa’s St George’s Day quiz followed by a ‘Who is the famous George’ picture quiz. While enjoying a cuppa, we also found out some facts about St George:
St George is also the patron saint of Aragon, Catalonia, Georgia, Lithuania, Palestine, Portugal, Germany, Greece, Moscow, Istanbul, Genia, and Venice (second to saint Mark).
From the 14th Century, Saint George came to be regarded as a special protector and St George’s Chapel was built at Windsor Castle by Edward IV and Henry VII.
