They made it – after four hours 30 minutes and 28,205 steps! Three members of staff at Downham Grange nursing home walked from Downham Market to King’s Lynn station on Saturday to raise funds for a residents’ outing to the King’s Lynn Corn Exchange’s seasonal pantomime Cinderella. Adam Titcombe, 30, maintenance man at the Kingsley Healthcare run home in Clackclose Road, Downham Market, was joined on the road by head chef Natalie Morton, 38, and senior carer Mandy Munden, 35. He said: “We left Downham Grange at 9.30am. We all had a good time but found our legs and hips were hurting coming up to King’s Lynn. “But it was all worthwhile. With sponsorship from colleagues and friends outside work we expect our final fundraising total to exceed £700 which will be more than enough for our panto outing.”

Mr. Titcombe has formed a fundraising committee at the home to support residents’ activities. Before the walk they held a successful yard sale and in the New Year they are looking to organise a programme of regular fundraising events.  “I am up for doing anything. One idea I have is to cycle from Downham Grange to our most Easterly home in East Anglia, Kirkley Manor in Lowestoft,” he said.
