Two Kingsley Healthcare managers were guests at a House of Commons reception

Two Kingsley Healthcare managers were guests at a House of Commons reception in recognition of their commitment to training at a Norfolk care home. Kirsty Holden, manager at Thorp House care home in Griston, and operations manager Georgina Dennison were invited by the YMCA to the event which was hosted by Romsey and Southampton North MP Caroline Nokes. Speakers including MP David Lammy discussed future apprenticeship reforms and the YMCA presented its apprentice awards.

Mrs. Holden said: “A number of staff, including my administrator, housekeeper, maintenance man and several support workers, are working on qualifications with the YMCA and they are looking to personalise an assistant practitioner course to suit us in the home.” The assistant practitioner course, which is currently being trialled in hospitals, is intended to bridge the gap between senior support workers and nurses.

Mrs. Holden said: “This will be an exciting new career path for support workers to follow and will increase the skill levels in the home.”
