Visitors enjoy D-Day garden party at Brooke House
Visitors flocked to Brooke House care home, near Norwich, for a garden party to celebrate the 80th anniversary of D-Day.
Local families enjoyed the serene surroundings of the grand former family home of the Mackintosh – of chocolate fame – family and listened to musical performances from Chet Valley Voices, North Norfolk Ukuleles and opera singer Benjamin Lake.
A barbecue raised more than £300 for the East Anglia’s Children’s Hospice (EACH) at Poringland.
EACH volunteers were in attendance as was the home’s much-loved PAT dog Maisie.
Visitors enjoyed a mobile bar with a very professional cocktail maker from The Bar District and Michael’s Ice Cream.
Home manager Alison Lake said: “We welcomed well over 100 people to our event, which was a tremendous success. We are pleased to have raised so much money for a very worthy cause.”
