Waveney MP Peter Aldous was the guest of honour at a buffet lunch to mark the opening of an extension at The Laurels learning disability home in Yarmouth Road, Lowestoft. The £50,000 project has created a new airy dining room overlooking the garden of the home run by Isiss, the learning disability arm of Kingsley Healthcare Group. Families joined residents and Kingsley head office staff for the occasion and Gillian Brookes, sister of Grenville Bloomfield, a resident for nine years, presented gifts of a silk tie and silk scarf to Kingsley CEO Daya Thayan and his wife Sumi.

She said: “Thank you so much for giving my brother such a lovely home.”Toni Atkinson, manager of the home, which last year won glowing praise in a good Care Quality Commission inspection, said: “The extension has given us a lot more space so our seven residents can comfortably sit down together for meals.”
