My career in healthcare began in 1989 at the age of 16 on a YTS scheme as well as attending college. By the age of 18 I was given an award for being the youngest manager in Cheshire travelling across the country in a peripatetic role. I have 31 years’ experience in different areas of care. I joined Kingsley Healthcare almost six years ago and have gained further experience and knowledge within the manager role including achieving my NVQ 4 and 5 in management. I am the manager at Park Lane in Congleton and am proud of my well-established staff team. We have just won an award on Carehome.co.uk for being in the Top 20 in the North West and 1st in CW12 area.

Activities Co-ordinator

I started working in Care Industry initially on a  YTS when I was just 16 . As I gained experience I tried a couple of different homes to work with different cultures. I commenced employment at Parklane just over 4 and half years ago as a Support worker . The opportunity came up of Activitys co-ordinator and I felt my skills leaned more towards this role as I have the ability to engage residents in different meaningful activity’s and ensure that they don’t stop living just because they come into a home.

Maintenance

I started working in care 1997. I wasn’t sure if it was the career for me. I was doing Community Care and achieved my NVQ level 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care. I then moved into residential homes which included working at Parklane as a carer, but an opportunity came up as a Handyman in another home so I left to try this role. In October 2016 a job for a Maintenance Man at Parklane came up , because I enjoyed my time as a carer there I applied for the position as Maintenance man and was successful. Since starting at Parklane I have gained more skills and given the home a facelift, by decorating the bedrooms and corridors to a high standard. I have also developed the garden areas into a colourful experience by planting in raised beds and themed areas that is welcomed by all
