Congratulations to our team at Yaxley!

yaxley house cqc rated

Staff at Yaxley House care home in Yaxley, near Eye are proud of their glowing Care Quality Commission inspection report. The Kingsley Healthcare home has been rated good overall and good in every category, the inspector finding the service safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.

Home manager Bronwen James said: “We are passionate about putting good care at the heart of everything we do. “I am thrilled that the hard work and dedication of my team here has been recognised by the inspector.” The report notes that residents were happy with their care and were treated with kindness and compassion. “Staff engaged with people in a caring manner, speaking to people at eye level in a calm demeanour, giving people time to respond to questions and offering them reassurance through touch such as holding their hand,” said the inspector.

Staff respected people’s dignity and privacy and supported them to maintain friendships and important relationships. New activities co-ordinators had been recruited and supported residents to follow their interests and take part in social activities, ranging widely from playing cards to attending church services. One resident told the inspector: “I don’t feel at all restricted and I certainly feel that I am in control of my own life.”

The report notes that people enjoyed their food and were offered sufficient choice. Residents were also given the choice of whether to eat in the dining room or their bedroom. The inspector found that the staff had all the skills and training required to provide the necessary levels of care and support. The report notes that staff at Yaxley now have more time to spend with residents thanks to the recruitment of more people and the introduction of a computer based care planning and recording system.   Safe recruitment procedures ensured that staff with the appropriate experience and character supported people. The inspector said that both residents and social care professionals felt the home was managed efficiently and the manager was very approachable.

One resident said: “Oh yes, I could talk to the manager”, while a member of staff said: “My line managers are very approachable.” (Picture): Team at Yaxley with manager Bronwen in the Centre of picture.
