Spring Lodge getting ready for Christmas

care homes ipswich

It’s the countdown to Christmas at Spring Lodge and our residents are busy deciding how they want to celebrate the festive season. And to get everyone in the right mood the home’s new activities coordinator Claire Augusto has been joining them in a festive craft session, making snowman and paper chain decorations. Claire, who hails from Johannesburg in South Africa, said: “I am always happy and bubbly and the residents seem to pick up my vibes. It’s contagious! “Whether we are sitting at the table having a chat or doing activities everyone is happy here.” As Christmas approaches, their sing-songs – “we love singing even when we are doing activities” - have switched from classics such as Dean Martin songs to carols and other festive favourites.

Spring Lodge’s new manager Louise Coote is also looking forward to her first Christmas at the home in the picturesque village of Woolverstone. She said: “Claire has arrived in our home like a breath of fresh air and really given everyone a lift.” Louise, who brings more than 20 years of experience in the care industry to her new role, added that she had overseen many other improvements since her arrival three months ago. She said: “I am passionate about providing really person-centred care and making sure there are activities for our residents every day.”

Louise said the home was already looking bright even ahead of the Christmas decorations going up thanks to the complete redecoration of lounges and dining areas.   Other projects were also in the pipeline, including the creation of a pub area in the home, she added.
