Staff at a Congleton care home are celebrating recognition of their high standards in a glowing report by the Care Quality Commission. Park Lane care home, in the town’s Park Lane, received an overall good rating and the inspector’s report found it was good in every category, covering whether the service is safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. Jayne O’Sullivan, manager of the 42-bedroom home run by Kingsley Healthcare, said: “Working hard to provide the highest quality care possible is at the heart of everything we do so we are delighted that has been reflected in this report. “I have a wonderful team of staff here and it is their dedication and commitment that has made this possible.” On his visit last month the inspector observed that interactions between staff and residents were “friendly, polite and unhurried”.

Staff showed they had knowledge and understanding of residents’ personalities, preferences, needs and support requirements. The inspector noted the positive response from residents whose comments to him ranged from: “I love it here, there is plenty to do and the staff are caring” to “The food is excellent” and “They look after us”. The inspector noted: “It was evident from speaking to people using the service and direct observation that staff applied the principles of treating people with respect, safeguarding dignity and privacy and promoting independence.” The report states that staff were responsive and attentive to the needs of people during lunch time and that there was a choice of wholesome and nutritious meals. The inspector remarked on the effective leadership and organisation of the manager.
