Residents at Highcliffe Nursing Home enjoyed Scottish dancing with lifestyle coach Maddie Banica during a fun Burns Night celebration.

The Kingsley Healthcare home, in Stuart Road, Highcliffe, came alive with the sounds of bagpipes music and the vocals of local entertainer Paul Spencer.

Residents were given the chance to try haggis and a range of delicious Scottish desserts including a special “Robbie Burns” cake.

Miss Banica said: “Our clinical manager Angela Martin is Scottish and she explained to us the traditional ceremony in which the haggis is cut open with a sword.

“None of our residents is Scottish and, to be frank, the verdict on the haggis was mixed!”

burnsnight highcliffe 2Highcliffe’s marketing manager Sally Dixon said: “We try really hard to keep our residents happy and entertained with events and activities – this month we have still got Chocolate Cake Day and the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch to come.

“During the past year it has been so important to make our own entertainment through the coronavirus lockdown.”
