An exciting new era dawns at Downham Grange

We are delighted to welcome new home manager Valmy Flores.

She joins our recently appointed deputy manager Julia Haines who is already making a strong impression with colleagues, residents and their families.

Also joining the senior team is hospitality and marketing manager Lucy Wright.

Valmy brings a wealth of experience and an impressive track record to her new role having qualified as a nurse in the 1990s.

She began her nursing career in the NHS at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, King’s Lynn, before moving into the care sector with the national provider Minster Care Group.

After 20 years there, latterly working as part of the operations team travelling countrywide, she wanted to return to her Fenland roots.

She said: “I love the area. I grew up in Holbeach before moving to King’s Lynn.

“I am really looking forward to the challenge of taking Downham Grange forward and building on the lovely modern home we have.

“I want to empower my staff and encourage them to take up opportunities for self-development; I want everyone here to feel valued as part of the team.”

Valmy said she was passionate about care and providing the very best environment for residents.

“I want the home to feel alive and buzzing with the sense that things are happening,” she said.

She said as Covid restrictions eased she was eager to get to know residents’ families and listen to their feedback.

“I am not going to be a 9 to 5 manager. There will be a management presence in the home seven days a week, available at weekends as well as later in the day,” she said.
