Park Lane celebrates glowing CQC report

Staff at Park Lane residential care home in Congleton are delighted with their glowing Care Quality Commission (CQC) report.   The inspectors who visited the Kingsley Healthcare run home last month found the service to be good overall and good in all five categories, judging it to be caring, safe, effective, responsive and well-led.   Home manager Jayne O’Sullivan said: “I am thrilled by the outcome. It’s been a real team effort and I am proud of all my staff for working so hard to once again achieve a good rating.   “It reflects what the community and health professionals think about us. We are proud to be highly regarded as a friendly home offering really good person centred care.”   The report highlights the fact residents told inspectors they were always treated as individuals and empowered to live their life in the way they chose.   Comments made to inspectors included, “The staff just can’t do enough for you, it really is super”, “All the staff are wonderful and will do their best to get you anything you want” and “The staff are so considerate”.   The report observes that staff respected people’s privacy and dignity and that care was tailored to meet individual needs, reflecting different levels of independence.   One family member commented that staff were “fully up to speed” with their relative’s care needs while another said they were pleased with the “thoroughness and accuracy of the care plan”.   The report notes that people were supported to eat and drink enough to maintain a balanced diet and the quality of food is praised by residents.   One resident told inspectors:  “The food here is excellent and my family are really pleased I have put on weight.”   The report observes that mealtimes are a “sociable time in the home”. Staff are attentive to people’s needs, instigate meaningful conversations and support those who require assistance to eat in a dignified way.   The inspectors noted that communal areas were comfortable and people were seen to either relax or engage in different activities throughout the inspection. They praised the secure garden which has a pleasant seating area.   Full of praise for the environment, one resident said: “I’m so glad I am here, it’s beautiful.”   Inspectors observed the home is safely run by a stable team which has low staff turnover.   One resident said, “I feel really safe here”, while a family member said, “All the staff do a brilliant job to protect our loved ones”.   Staff, residents and relatives were full of praise for home manager Jayne O’Sullivan and her management team; comments received included one saying, “The leadership from top down is first class”.
