Branksome Heights resident’s dream made true with “golden ticket” to see Bournemouth FC

bournemouth fc news 1

It was on the Bucket List  of lifelong football fan Paul Metcalf, 83, to watch a Bournemouth game.

So with this in mind , Tracey Goodman, lifestyle coordinator at Bournemouth care home Branksome Heights where Mr Metcalf lives, contacted the club to buy a ticket.

To her delight, the club offered the retired Naval Architect a complimentary “golden ticket” to attend the match of his choice as its guest.

She said: “Paul looked at the fixtures and decided on the Swansea game, a good choice as Bournemouth won four nil!”

Mr. Metcalf was accompanied to the match by Tracey  Goodman and assistant home manager Jackie Whitemore, a diehard Cherries fan.

The father of two, who played for Grimsby Town at school boy level, retired to the south coast with his wife Patricia and has developed a keen interest in the Cherries’ fortunes.

Mrs. Goodman said: “Paul spent the whole afternoon smiling and saying ‘this is terrific’ and ‘I could not be happier’.

“Although it was bitterly cold Paul clapped and cheered throughout the match.”

Mrs Whitemore said: “The smile and the emotion from Paul was amazing to see and makes offering person centred care an absolutely key  factor in all we do at Branksome Heights thank you AFC Bournemouth.”

Mrs. Goodman is continuing her endeavour to make more residents’ wishes happen at the Kingsley Healthcare home in Branksome Wood Road.
