The passion and dedication of care home staff was put under the spotlight at the inaugural Kingsley North West Care Awards
More than 100 staff and invited guests attended the event at The Mere Golf Resort and Spa in Knutsford, Cheshire, on Tuesday May 1 from 11.30am to 5pm. In his opening speech, Kingsley founder and CEO Daya Thayan said: “We are proud to have established Kingsley Healthcare as a familiar and trusted brand in the North-West, running care homes that are truly at the heart of their communities. “Our staff are at the heart of everything we do and with their dedication, commitment and professionalism I am confident we can continue to grow the Kingsley brand across the region.”
Meanwhile, Kingsley’s North West regional director Ian Smallwood said he was immensely proud to have joined the Kingsley family after a long and varied career in healthcare. The commitment shown by all staff reflected Mr Thayan’s personal ethos that every home had to be good enough for our own parents. “I believe this is apparent in all of our care homes here in the North West,” he said. Following a champagne reception, attendees enjoyed a three-course lunch and entertainment from magician Ben Hanlin, star of ITV2’s Tricked!, who hosted the awards.
Carrying off the prestigious care home of the year award was Sharston House, in Knutsford, while Jayne O’Sullivan, from Park Lane Care Home, in Congleton, took the manager of the year title. The other winners were: registered nurse of the year, Lisa Litchfield, of Four Oaks Care Home, in Partington; support worker of the year, Joseph Hutchinson, of Timperley Care Home; activities coordinator of the year, Estelle Felstead, of Timperley; maintenance person of the year, Simon Smith, of Four Oaks/ Timperley; care home business support champion, Sally Mault, of Sharston House; care home support services champion, Nicola Wagster, of Four Oaks; chef of the year, Jill Millard, Sharston House; Rising Star, Vicki Roberts, Four Oaks.
