Classic car show at Buckingham Lodge Nursing Home boosts charity fundraiser

a

Enthusiasts brought their vehicles from as far away as London for a classic car show at Buckingham Lodge Nursing Home, in Carbrooke, near Watton.

Nearly 200 fans were not deterred by blustery conditions on Saturday <15th> and turned up to admire the fantastic collection of gleaming cars, ranging from an elegant Rolls Royce to a quirky BMW Isetta “bubble car”.

The event was organised by Buckingham Lodge care home administrator Millie Sadd, who was thrilled that the event yielded a further £205 in donations towards her skydive appeal in aid of Alzheimer’s Society.

Miss Sadd has now secured nearly £1,700 in donations ahead of her sky dive on 5th August.

She said: “The event was a great success. People really enjoyed it and said they would come again and tell their friends about it if we organise another one. I am already planning a classic motorbike show as a future event.

“Tim Thornby who brought his beautiful Rolls Royce along has kindly offered to take residents out in it to local cafes and tea rooms.”

Miss Sadd, who has worked at Buckingham Lodge since she left school in 2018, said as she worked so closely with people living with dementia, Alzheimer’s Society was a charity very close to her heart. The charity provides vital support to people living with dementia and their families.
